This awards season may have been the strangest yet due to the global pandemic, but that hasn't stopped some movies keeping the Oscar spirit alive with their outdoor awards consideration campaigns.

Once such film is Chloé Zhao's Nomadland which is nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, Best Cinematography and Best Actress in a Leading Role for Frances McDormand

The film is adapted from Jessica Bruder's 2017 non-fiction book, Nomadland: Surviving in the Twenty-Firt Century, and follows McDormand's 'Fern' as a van-dwelling modern day nomad traveling across America and was beautifully shot in South Dakota, Nebraska, Arizona, Nevada and California.

Following the death of her husband and economic collapse of her town, she finds a new life and similarly nomadic friends in her camper van working seasonal jobs, and dealing with grief and learning to live again for herself.
