The Trial of the Chicago 7 movie billboards...

This year we've seen this government use tear gas, rubber bullets, batons and police brutality against peaceful protesters in America, and that's not to mention the people who were abducted into unmarked cars by unidentified federal officers for no cause.

Against that backdrop there's never been a better time for Aaron Sorkin's new film ripped from history, The Trial of the Chicago 7.

The movie is based on the true story of the Chicago Seven, a group of defendants charged by the Nixon administration with conspiring to organise a riot to demonstrate against the Vietnam War at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois.

The subsequent notorious show trial was staged to intimidate the hippie, peace and black power movements in opposition of the Vietnam War.

No matter how much they try to bully, suppress, punish and intimate their detractors, in a democracy the power of the people is far greater than the people in power.

Boycotts, protests, marches, civil disobedience, voting and using your voice can change the world for the better, so never give up because that's exactly what they want, to disillusion you and make you feel your actions don't matter. Standing together for what matters can make a difference. Truth always prevails over lies.
