Swamp Thing series premiere TV billboards...

DC Swamp Thing CW series launch billboard
This October another DC comic book character lumbers onto The CW, as Swamp Thing rises once more on television due to the pandemic.

Originally created by writer Len Wein and artist Bernie Wrightson in the 1970s, his brand of supernatural horror was brought to the cinema screen in 1982 in a Wes Craven-directed feature and later for 72 episodes and three seasons of his own television series from 1990 to 1993.

The plant-elemental creature was resurrected for the short-lived DC Universe video-on-demand streaming service last May, which streamed all ten episodes of the new series and now, due to the lack of original TV production due to the coronavirus, it will enjoy an encore broadcast airing on The CW this fall.

In the 2019 show, Crystal Reed's CDC doctor 'Abby Arcane' returns home to Marais, Louisiana, to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. There she meets a disgraced biologist named 'Alec Holland' (Andy Bean) who uncovers an illegal operation in the swamp and winds up dead, his memories reborn in the supernatural form of the 'Swamp Thing' (played by Derek Mears).

Meanwhile the 'Weird Creatures' billboard for the series launch on DC Universe was snapped along Westwood Boulevard on July 17, 2019.

This pandemic has certainly given new life to some shows previously only seen on lower profile streaming platforms, like Tell Me A Story, L.A.'s Finest and now Swamp Thing, but as this show was cancelled after one season it'll be interesting to see what the future holds for this DC character.
