Reddit Up The Vote billboards...

United Steak of America Reddit billboard
With social media platforms coming under greater scrutiny for spreading fake news, misinformation, hate speech and conspiracy theories, Reddit has chosen to promote itself a force for good with their first outdoor brand campaign to help 'Up The Vote' in America to mark their fifteenth anniversary.

This out-of-home campaign from agency R/GA features the amount of votes given to popular posts on the social media site and how those numbers could actually sway a real election, like this coming consequential November vote.

These quirky Reddit Up The Vote billboards were photographed along La Brea Avenue, La Cienega Boulevard, Olympic Boulevard and Westwood Boulevard from September 2 to September 28, 2020.

This is not an election to sit out, as it does feel like America is on the precipice of falling into fascism, a nation which once rejected a mad king's reign may soon find themselves being ruled by a corrupt dictator who has already let over 200,000 citizens die from the coronavirus, because he knew how deadly COVID-19 was but downplayed its threat.

Republicans have always tried to suppress voting in the past, but a pandemic makes things even more challenging, especially when you have a handpicked Trump donor dismantling the U.S. Post Office to discourage and delay postal votes.

So this year, don't be stopped by the efforts to block ballots, intimidate in-person voters or be confused by misinformation about when, where and how to cast your vote.

Women and people of colour have died in order to win the right to vote in this country, so with just over a month left until this election, vote as if your life and democracy depends on it, because it does.

And maybe soon we can all get back to the important business of voting for cute cat and dog pictures.

Giant Weakest Link series launch billboard
No stranger to hosting television game shows after emceeing Hollywood Game Night for NBC since 2013, Jane Lynch has a new gig this fall TV season as the host of the Weakest Link revival.

The Comey Rule series premiere TV billboards...

Comey Rule series launch billboard
There were probably two things that Donald Trump was rage tweeting about yesterday and the early hours of this morning, one being the fact that The New York Times have obtained copies of his tax returns and the second being The Comey Rule which premiered last night on Showtime.
Comey Rule Showtime billboard
The two-night event series stars Jeff Daniels as FBI Director James Comey and Brendan Gleeson as the newly elected Donald Trump.

Based on the former FBI Director's memoir, A Higher Loyalty, and adapted for the small screen by Billy Ray, the political drama traces key moments and missteps of the 2016 presidential race and its aftermath during the first few months of Trump's presidency, including Comey's firing due to the Russia probe.

These confrontational series launch billboards were snapped along the Sunset Strip and La Brea Avenue from September 16 to September 27, 2020.

Brendan Gleeson may play a more menacing Trump in this series, but you can also check out these other impersonations including this Saturday Night Live billboard with Alec Baldwin and these billboards for The President Show with Anthony Atamanuik.

Maybe this will give Donald Trump a reason to hate James Comey as much as Hillary Clinton does for scuppering her chances with his last minute meddling into her emails which helped tip the scales in the last election.

Anyone else out there who's longing for this Black Mirror episode to end?

If you're looking for some September scares this weekend, then maybe you can enjoy a double feature of Netflix's duo of The Babysitter movies to provide the gory thrills.

The teen comedy horror gets a sequel this month with The Babysitter: Killer Queen, as Judah Lewis is back as 'Cole', now a high school junior still trying to convince people that his former babysitter 'Bee' (Samara Weaving) led a satanic cult (a popular theory these days) and tried to kill him. And now they are back from the dead to try it again.

Netflix One story away billboards...

One story away Netflix Cheer billboard
During this pandemic that has claimed 200,000 Americans to date, aside from essential frontline workers, the other thing that people have been grateful for during this health crisis is all the streaming services around to entertain us all whilst we've been sheltering at home under lockdown.
One story away crying Netflix Queer Eye billboard
With so many new streaming platforms joining the Streaming Wars in the last year, Disney+, Apple TV+, HBO Max and Peacock, its looks like Netflix wants to make sure it stands out amongst all these competitors with a new outdoor brand campaign to highlight its unique offering.

The streaming giant has unified its diverse content under one giant storytelling umbrella, with the 'One story away' message.

Not only do the billboards highlight the streamer's wide range of reality shows, hit dramas, Oscar-winning movies and critically-acclaimed stand-up comedy specials, but the campaign also evokes emotions and tries to bring us together to watch this content during these socially distant times.

During these challenging times we all need some escapism from reality, and a destination offering enlightening and entertaining quality storytelling is always welcome, especially if it can also supply a good old cathartic cry at the same time.

With around 193,000 million subscribers around the world, it's only a matter of time before Netflix hits the 200,000 million mark, so let's see if the streaming service can continue to retain its audience (and fend off challengers) with engaging stories in the months and years ahead.

Eating animals causes pandemics Go Vegan Animal Save Movement billboards and more...

Eating animals causes pandemics Go Vegan Animal Save Movement billboard
As the saying goes, there are none so blind as those who will not see.

These billboards from Animal Save Movement encouraging people to 'Go vegan' certainly stood out in the quarantined city skyline recently, with their message about eating animals causing pandemics and using these striking visuals with essential face masks used as blindfolds.
Eating animals causes pandemics Go Vegan billboard
Whether it be wildlife markets in China that appear to have created the current global coronavirus pandemic, or over-farming practices to feed meat and poultry lovers, consuming animals has led to viruses like the 1997 H5N1 bird flu outbreak and 2009's H1N1 swine flu outbreak in the past.

These thought provoking Animal Save Movement billboards were snapped along Beverly Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard from August 11 to August 14, 2020.
Sisters under the skin Peta End Speciesism billboard
Other animal activists in the past have used more graphic imagery in the city skyline to win people over to their cause, like PETA's arresting 'End Speciesism' ad campaign to illustrate that human, dogs, mice or pigs, we're all animals.

This eye-catching 'Sisters under the skin' billboard was spied along Melrose Avenue on July 9, 2019.
Eating meat kills more animals than you think Peta billboard
Meanwhile this other PETA billboard really shines a spotlight on the horror of eating meat, highlighting how animal agriculture like ranchers burning rainforests in order to graze cattle thereby kills more animals than you think for your steaks and burgers (not to mention the impact on climate change).

This graphic ad creative with a cow attacking a tropical parrot was captured along Beverly Boulevard on September 29, 2019.
We are all animals Joaquin Phoenix PETA billboard
Organisations like PETA also use notable celebrities, like Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix, to encourage passersby to think of all us living creatures as animals, end speciesism and 'Live vegan', like with this billboard along the Sunset Strip on October 18, 2019.
Another billboard pulling at heartstrings recently was this harrowing 'Ditch Dairy' billboard by Animal Equality, spied above Cahuenga Boulevard on April 22, 2020.

We can barely get some people to wear a mask, let alone properly cover their nose and mouth when they do, so getting them to change eating habits to prevent future pandemics seems like a stretch.

These diseases are preventable so we'd better start being smarter and kinder, otherwise our future certainly looks bleak.
