The Goldfinch movie billboards...

Today's billboard flashback is courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures adaptation of Donna Tartt's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Goldfinch.

The coming-of-age story follows the life of 13-year-old 'Theodore Decker', whose mother is killed in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. In the aftermath, he takes a small Dutch Golden Age painting, The Goldfinch, from the gallery and hides it in his apartment.

The young 'Theo' is played by Oakes Fegley and is taken in by a wealthy friend's Upper East Side family, and his older counterpart is played by Ansel Elgort.

The captivating painting is the one thing that reminds him of his mother, but his possession of the stolen artwork ultimately leads him into the underworld of art.

These movie billboards were photographed along the Sunset Strip, Westwood Boulevard and 3rd Street from August 21 to September 30, 2019.

The Goldfinch may have bombed at the box office (taking just under $10 million around the world), but it's currently free to stream on Amazon Prime Video, so why don't you decide for yourself if you like this adaptation from 2019.
