2020 HBO Emmy consideration billboards...

This year everything from music festivals to sporting events, movie releases and everyday life has been affected by the global coronavirus pandemic.

It's also affected the entertainment industry in other ways, like the awards season calendar, whether it be the Oscars being pushed back to the end of April 2021, or the Emmy Awards extending their entry deadlines and nomination announcements.

With studios temporarily shutting down, people working remotely from home and the level of uncertainty in the industry we've also seen Emmy campaigning out-of-home delayed overall this season.

One huge fixture of the Emmy season has always been premium cabler HBO and this year even though they may be a little later to the party, they've certainly made their presence felt around the streets and skies of L.A. with another cohesive network campaign.

To kick us off this year is a 'For your consideration' billboard for the "Bracingly original" rookie series, Run, snapped above Westwood Boulevard on June 19, 2020.

The series stars Merritt Wever and Domhnall Gleeson as two ex-lovers who activate a long-ago agreed escape plan to runaway together, leaving their lives and families, but attracting trouble along the way.

Next up is a FYC billboard for the television adaptation of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials fantasy novels.

Set in a theocratic alternate world ruled by the Magisterium, humans are accompanied by animal spirit form Daemons of their souls and the world id populated by witches, Gyptians and armoured polar bears.

This BBC and HBO co-production stars Dafne Keen, Ruth Wilson, James McAvoy and Lin-Manuel Miranda as the beloved book characters.

In the past twelve months, HBO also debuted Damon Lindelof's reimagining of DC Comics Watchmen in episodic form.

Set over 30 years from the events of the iconic comic book series by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, the new story is primarily set in Tulsa, Oklahoma and sees Regina King play the masked police detective 'Angela Abar' aka 'Sister Night', taking on the white supremacists of the Seventh Kavalry in a timely tale of racism, injustice and superpowers.

With new adversaries, alliances and worlds to explore this season, this reimagining of Michael Crichton's 1973 sci-fi thriller moved away from its Groundhog Day trappings and truly became "epic".
