The Hate U Give movie billboards...

The brutal murder of George Floyd, and too many other black men and women, at the hands of the police has really made decent people in America realise more than ever that Black Lives Matter and that we all need to re-examine the systemic racism in the world and the role that the police should play in society.

That's why today Daily Billboard shines the spotlight on another story about a police officer killing a black man, in the film The Hate U Give.

The movie is based on the debut 2017 young adult novel of the same name by Angie Thomas and stars Amandla Stenberg as the 16-year-old 'Starr Carter', who witnesses her childhood best friend 'Khalil' shot dead by a police officer after a minor traffic violation.

Initially silent after the fatal incident and facing pressure from all sides of her community, Starr must find her voice to stand up and speak out for what's right.

The theatrical release billboard was first spied along West Hollywood's Sunset Strip on September 24, 2018, whilst the larger reviews version was spotted at Fox Studios along Pico Boulevard on October 22, 2018.

If you're looking for more projects to educate yourself about systemic racism, the Civil Rights Movement, social injustice and police brutality, then you may want to check out these 13th documentary billboards, these When They See Us billboards, these Selma movie billboards, these Detroit movie billboards and these American Son billboards.

Now more than ever silence equals death, and so it's time to listen, educate and amplify the voices of our black brothers and sisters so that real change can happen.
