Disney's live-action version of Mulan may have been delayed from its original March 27 theatrical release date because of the coronavirus, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy these spectacular billboards for the movie currently battling their way through the city skyline.

Director Niki Caro's action-packed feature film is based on the 1998 animated musical of the same name, itself inspired by the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan.

Liu Yifei stars as the titular heroine who disguises herself as a young male warrior to take the place of her ailing father when the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Chinese Army to defend their country from invaders.

These arresting Disney movie billboards were photographed along La Brea Avenue, Beverly Boulevard, Olympic Boulevard, Cahuenga Boulevard and the Sunset Strip from February 26 to March 11, 2020.

Now that the film is postponed, it'll be interesting to see if Walt Disney Pictures will use the same key art when the movie is rescheduled, or if we'll see a different outdoor campaign in the future.

UPDATED: You know what they say about best-laid plans, and so rather than enjoying a theatrical release in cinemas, Disney's live-action Mulan movie is coming to Disney+ Premier Access due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

That means Disney+ subscribers don't get it for free just yet, but need to pay $29.99 to watch at home in the U.S. (prices vary in other territories)

The new giant-sized Mulan billboard with the new white title logo was snapped along the Sunset Strip on August 25, 2020, whilst the standard landscape and extension cut-out billboards were photographed along La Brea Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard the same day.

It's a brave new world, which needs a brave heroine, so let's see how this unique streaming test goes when the film is available on-demand on September 4, 2020.
