He's played the technological genius 'Tony Stark' in Iron Man, the infamous British detective 'Sherlock Holmes' and now Robert Downey Jr. takes on another iconic role in Dolittle.
Based on Hugh Lofting's children's books created in 1920, he plays 'Dr. John Dolittle', a famed doctor and veterinarian living in Victorian England who has become a hermit after the death of his wife, his only company his menagerie of animals.
When Queen Victoria falls gravely ill, a reluctant Dolittle embarks on an epic adventure to a mythical island in search of a cure, encountering old adversaries and wondrous creatures on his quest.
