This fall television season the networks seem to have been inspired by the current immigration cultural debate especially when it comes to comedy, NBC have Sunnyside and CBS is offering up Chuck Lorre's Bob Hearts Abishola.
Billy Gardell stars as 'Bob', the owner of a compression sock company, when the stress of his job and his family lands him in hospital with a heart attack.
When he wakes up in hospital he meets Folake Olowofoyeku's 'Abishola', a hard-working immigrant Nigerian nurse, who he falls in love with and becomes determined to win her heart.
These series launch billboards were spied along Santa Monica Boulevard, Fairfax Avenue, La Cienega Boulevard and Beverly Boulevard from August 21 to September 7, 2019.
A romantic comedy that also examines the immigrant experience in America seems very timely and a refreshing antidote to the current administration's heartless and hurtful approach to immigration.
Let's hope we all heart this new sitcom, and let's face it with CBS losing The Big Bang Theory after twelve seasons from its schedule this May, it needs another lovable hit.
