Now it's the turn of Joaquin Phoenix to don the sinister clown makeup as 'Arthur Fleck', a man disregarded by society to their eternal regret.

Director Todd Phillips brings the iconic DC villain, created by Bill Finger, Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson, to the big screen in his own gritty standalone origin story.
These movie billboards capturing the insanity of the Joker were spied along Highland Avenue, 3rd Street, Cahuenga Boulevard and the Sunset Strip from September 21 to September 25, 2019.

The film has already received accolades for Phoenix's portrayal of a mentally ill aspiring stand-up comedian and clown-for-hire, but the movie has also garnered criticism for its depiction of violence, especially from the families of mass shooting victims.

It's interesting that Warner Bros. Studios feel some of DC villains deserve their own standalone movies (with another Suicide Squad movie on the way), when their pantheon of superheroes still haven't all starred on the big screen.
Let's see if this depiction of the Dark Knight's classic foe will make a killing at the box office this October.
