Streaming giant Netflix remains a powerhouse this year, both in nominations with 117 and the number of billboard it has supporting its series and specials in all categories save the variety show genre.

HBO may have returned to the top spot with 137 Emmy nominations this year (helped by 32 nods for the final season of Game of Thrones), but newcomers like Natasha Lyonne's Groundhog Day comedy Russian Doll certainly captured viewers imagination this season and TV Academy recognition with thirteen nominations for the lead actress and the show itself.

Netflix was hailed as the great disrupter of the entertainment industry a few years ago, but now with broadcast networks and studios bouncing back and reclaiming their original content to launch their own streaming platforms, let's see if this will be the streaming giant's final year of Emmy glory, or whether it will continue to dominate these annual industry awards in the future.
