A lot has happened since the award-winning Last Week Tonight went off the air in November, and now the late-night satirical news and talk show is back for a sixth season on HBO.
Democrats won the house, a gazillion U.S. presidential candidates have announced for 2020, asylum-seeking kids are being kept in cages and dying at the border, Trump has been caving on the government shutdown and funds for his promised wall, troops have been recalled from Syria and transgender service members fired by tweet, Robert Mueller has been accruing guilty verdicts, indictments and plea deals of the President's friends and election campaign team, and more and more scandals, corruption and cover-ups seem to come to light every single day.
In this scary new world we live in there's certainly plenty of material for John Oliver to poke fun at and shine a satirical spotlight on.
These impish season six billboards were captured along Sunset Boulevard, La Brea Avenue and Melrose Avenue from January 23 to February 6, 2019.
Fans of the HBO show can also check out all these previous season promo billboards for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
Welcome back John, maybe one day you can go back to investigating and roasting corrupt businesses, scam artists, foreign dictators and shady politicians, rather than the residents of the White House and their associates.

UPDATED: Here's also an Emmy consideration billboard for the 'fierce and funny' sixth season snapped along L.A.'s Western Avenue on May 29, 2019.

UPDATED: Congratulations to John Oliver and the team for securing nine Emmy nominations this season, including for Outstanding Variety Talk Series.
This Emmy nominee billboard was spied above Hollywood Boulevard on August 14, 2019.
