The Italian-language adaptation of My Brilliant Friend tells the story of an elderly woman named 'Elena Greco' remembering the decades long friendship and conflicts with 'Raffaella "Lila" Cerullo', who has seemingly disappeared.
Her memories takes us back to when they first met in 1950 in a small neighbourhood on the outskirts of Naples and their struggles with class, gender, family, crime and societal changes in Italy through their teenage years.
These HBO billboards hinting at the fun of childhood friendship for this coming-of-age tale were snapped along Fairfax Avenue and the Sunset Strip from October 29 to November 3, 2018.
With three other books in the series, you can tell this eight-part mini-series is just the start of years of melodrama from these two friends.

UPDATED: Here's also an Emmy consideration billboard for the HBO series photographed above Melrose Avenue on May 24, 2019.
