Now after surviving their own solo TV series, 'Daredevil', 'Jessica Jones', 'Luke Cage' and 'Iron Fist' are uniting to face a threat to New York City in The Defenders mini-series.
Individually they've faced kingpin's, purple men, arms dealers and ninjas, and found their lives more interconnected than they thought (usually via Rosario Dawson's nurse 'Claire Temple'), but are these loners ready to face the mysterious menace of Sigourney Weaver's 'Alexandra' and the Hand ninja order.
The real question is how will a blind lawyer vigilante, indestructible powerhouse, snarky super-detective and living weapon play well together (especially with some of the bedroom history they share).
Regardless of whether they get on, it is cool to see these crime-fighting Marvel heroes assembled together and these billboards for the eight-part mini-series were photographed along the Sunset Strip, Beverly Boulevard, Vine Street, Pico Boulevard and Cahuenga Boulevard on August 8, 2017.
Fans of Charlie Cox's 'Man without Fear' can also check out these Daredevil billboards which kicked off Netflix's street-level Marvelverse.
Admirers of Krysten Ritter's hard-drinking private investigator can also enjoy these Jessica Jones billboards.
For more of Mike Colter's bulletproof hero of Harlem take a look at the Luke Cage billboards and for his comic book partner-in-crime (and let's hope they can replicate some of that chemistry on the small screen), enjoy these Iron Fist billboards featuring Finn Jones as the master of the martial arts.
These character's respective solo series also introduced us to a rich interconnected TV universe filled with other fan-favourite characters like 'Karen Page', 'Foggy Nelson', 'Jeri Hogarth', 'Stick' and 'Trish Walker', plus heroes like 'Misty Knight', 'Colleen Wing', 'Elektra' and the 'Punisher'.
Let's hope that The Defenders can not only save the day, but can propel these TV heroes into new and interesting adventures in subsequent seasons of their stand alone shows.
And who knows, maybe one day they'll have to answer the call to join together and defend the world once again.

UPDATED: Here's another vertical billboard for The Defenders spotted above the Sunset Strip's Rainbow Bar and Grill on August 18, 2017.
