Now the film franchise is setting sail on its fifth installment with Johnny Depp's rum-soaked 'Captain Jack Sparrow' up to his usual antics and in search of a new legendary hidden treasure, the Trident of Poseidon.
Never one to stay out of trouble, the movie sees an old pirate acquaintance of Jack's out for revenge in the form of Javier Bardem's sinister 'Captain Salazar'.
Dead Men Tells No Tales also sees the return of some other familiar faces like Geoffrey Rush's 'Barbossa' and fan favourites Keira Knightley as 'Elizabeth Swann' and Orlando Bloom as 'Will Turner'.
Also adding to the swashbuckling franchise will be Brenton Thwaites as 'Henry Turner', the young son of the former blacksmith, and Kaya Scodelario as 'Carina Smyth'.
Expect explosions galore, marauding ghost pirates, skull and crossbones comedy and a battle for control of the high seas like you've never seen before.
These Pirates of the Caribbean movie sequel billboards were spied around the streets of L.A., including Olympic Boulevard, La Brea Avenue, Westwood Boulevard, Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue from May 3 to May 13, 2017.
These billboards immediately scream Pirates of the Caribbean, but there's a lot going on in these ad creatives, a really long film subtitle, logos, headlining stars, they look a bit busy and cluttered.
Fans of the Disney film franchise can also enjoy these Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides movie billboards from 2011.
Meanwhile film enthusiasts should also check out these original costumes and props from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies on display.
Johnny Depp admirers can also enjoy these movie billboards for The Lone Ranger, these Mortdecai movie billboards and these Alice Through the Looking Glass movie billboards to name but a few.
Will it be a pirating life with a bottle of rum for audiences this summer, or will this be another unnecessary film sequel that sinks at the box office?

UPDATED: Here's also a version of Geoffrey Rush's 'Captain Hector Barbossa' billboard in better lighting snapped along Olympic Boulevard on May 28, 2017.
Plus fans of the movie can also enjoy these original Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales movie costumes and props on display.
