Moonlight might have missed out on receiving the true recognition it deserved at the 89th Academy Awards when La La Land was mistakenly announced as Best Picture, but that hasn't stopped the stars of the coming-of-age drama from having the last laugh and enjoying their success.
Iconic fashion brand Calvin Klein snapped up several of the actors from the film about a young gay African-American boy growing up and becoming a man in a rough neighborhood in Miami to be the faces, and bodies, of their latest underwear ad campaign.
Ashton Sanders who plays the teenage 'Chiron', Mahershala Ali who plays a surrogate father figure to the young boy 'Little' and Trevante Rhodes who plays an older incarnation of Chiron called 'Black' are all featured in the spotlight in these stylish and masculine black and white images shot by Willy Vanderperre.
The portrait Calvin Klein billboards featuring Ashton Sanders and Mahershala Ali were snapped along West Hollywood's Sunset Strip on March 17, whilst the super-sized Trevante Rhodes ad creative was photographed making a bold impression around the bend on a brand new giant ad site on April 14, 2017.
For more sexy male and female Calvin Klein Underwear model billboards be sure to also check out all these other outdoor advertising examples from times past.
Meanwhile fans of 2017's Oscar-winning Best Motion Picture of the Year can also enjoy these Moonlight movie billboards.

Apple iPhone 7 (PRODUCT)RED billboards...
You know what corporate world? You can make money and do good at the same time, the two are not mutually exclusive.
At the moment, tech giant Apple is once again taking part in the (PRODUCT)RED initiative and so with every purchase of a red iPhone 7 contributes to the Global Fund to help HIV/AIDS programs worldwide and ensure that one day we'll live in an AIDS free world.
Not only do you feel great about having the latest high tech gadget, but you can also do some good at the same time.
These red billboards certainly provide a burst of bold color to the city skyline, although it's strange that Apple didn't include the actual (PRODUCT)RED logo as part of their ad creative design.
This all red outdoor ad campaign with the billboards showing off the sleek dimensions of the smartphone were photographed around the streets of L.A., including the Sunset Strip, Hollywood Boulevard, Bundy Drive, Beverly Boulevard, Pico Boulevard and high above Sunset & Vine, from April 10 to April 19, 2017.
Apple product fans can also take a look at all these different iPhone outdoor ad campaigns filling the skies in recent years.
Meanwhile for more (PRODUCT)RED initiatives from times past, make sure you also check out these Belvedere Vodka billboards and this Best Fiends mobile game billboard.
Plus take some time to check out these HIV/AIDS awareness and sexual health billboards.
Here's hoping that with enough funding, scientific research, government support, advocacy, education and awareness, thats AIDS can one day be cured and become a thing of the past.

American Gods series premiere TV billboards...
In these trying days that seem to question our faith in humanity on a daily basis and make us question what it means to be an American, Starz new supernatural drama American Gods seems like a timely arrival.
The new series adapts Neil Gaiman's critically-acclaimed 2001 novel of the same name and tackles timely political issues and ideas about identity, with mythological deities and creatures, plus a healthy dose of blood, sex and violence.
Ricky Whittle stars as 'Shadow Moon', a mortal ex-con drawn into a fantastical holy war in America's heartland as a bodyguard that pits Ian McShane's immortal grifter 'Mr. Wednesday' (the Norse all-father 'Odin') and the old gods against new modern gods and goddesses, like 'Technical Boy' (Bruce Langley) and 'Media' (Gillian Anderson).
In a place where immigrants brought mythologies from all over the world into one great melting pot, can Mr. Wednesday get the old gang back together and be remembered by an increasingly faithless population, or will America's new idols and fascinations like work, money and fame win the day.
These enigmatic American Gods series launch billboards were snapped along the Sunset Strip, Melrose Avenue and Beverly Boulevard from April 10 to April 21, 2017.
No matter which altar you worship at, it sounds like you should strap yourself in for one hell of an interesting road trip.

UPDATED: Here's another photo of the giant-sized billboard for American Gods, this time with added reviews, snapped on May 1, 2017.

Plus here's also a cool hand-painted wall mural ad for the first season spotted along Melrose Avenue on May 3, 2017.

UPDATED: American Gods debuted to rave reviews, but let's see if that translates into industry accolades this season.
This duo of Emmy consideration billboards was spied along West Hollywood's Sunset Strip on June 2, 2017.

UPDATED: With the much-delayed sophomore season of American Gods arriving in March 2019, there's still plenty of time to binge-watch the first fantastical season on the Starz app.
Maybe this billboard snapped along the Sunset Strip on January 19, 2019, featuring 'Bilquis', Queen of Sheba and goddess of love, can tempt new viewers.
Plus fans of the show can enjoy these cool American Gods season one costumes on display.

Bill Nye Saves the World series premiere TV billboards...
"Where have all the good men gone, and where are all the gods? Where's the streetwise Hercules to fight the rising odds? Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed? Late at night I toss and I turn and dream of what I need. I need a hero."
And lo, along came a hero in the most unlikely of forms, Bill Nye the Science Guy.
Each episode the eternally curious host will explore topics like climate change, alternative medicine, genetically modified food, new technologies and more, debunking myths and anti-science conspiracy theories, with lively panel discussions, experiments, celebrity guests and a panel of special correspondents including Karlie Kloss, Joanna Haussman, Emily Calandrelli, Derek Muller and Nazeem Hussain.
These billboards for Bill Nye Saves the World were first snapped along La Cienega Boulevard on April 14, then later above Santa Monica Boulevard in West L.A. and along Melrose Avenue through April 19, 2017.
It's a nice touch that these billboards for his new Netflix show are made from eco-friendly material, it helps reinforce the message of his series in a fun way.
Let's all hope that with his enthusiasm, super smarts and ability to help educate people, combined with all the intelligent, hard-working scientists around the globe, we can help save our planet when corrupt politicians, religious zealots and greedy businessmen seem to want to doom civilisation for their own ends.
P.S. Daily Billboard is sorry if Bonnie Tyler's 1984 song 'Holding Out for a Hero' is now stuck in your head all day long.

UPDATED: Here's another slightly more heroic ad creative for the new science-themed show spotted above Hollywood's Vine Street on May 11, 2017.

The Circle movie billboards...
To say that Emma Watson is having a good year is an understatement, with the live-action version of Disney's Beauty and the Beast already grossing over $1.1 billion at the box office around the globe.
Next up she stars in the sci-fi thriller, The Circle, based on Dave Eggers 2013 novel of the same name, alongside the likes of John Boyega, Ellar Coltrane, Karen Gillan, Patton Oswalt, Bill Paxton (in his final film appearance) and Hollywood legend Tom Hanks.
When she lands a dream job at the leading tech and social media company, she starts to rise through the ranks and is encouraged by the company's co-founder (played by Tom Hanks) to participate in a groundbreaking experiment.
She soon discovers there may be a far more nefarious purpose behind this experiment that pushes the boundaries of ethics, privacy, surveillance and her own personal freedom, which may affect the future of those closest to her and all humanity.
These eye-catching movie billboards for The Circle were snapped along Pico Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard on April 18, 2017.
Admirers of Emma Watson can also check out these Beauty and the Beast movie billboards, plus all these Harry Potter film billboards.
Meanwhile fans of Tom Hanks can enjoy these Inferno movie billboards, these Bridge of Spies movie billboards and these Sully movie billboards.
With Congressional Republicans recently signing over citizens rights to their own internet search histories to internet providers to sell to the highest bidder, this film certainly seems timely when it comes to privacy, so let's hope that the secrets of The Circle make for compelling (and not too depressing) viewing.

In NBC's latest workplace comedy Briga Heelan stars as 'Katie Wendelson', an up-and-coming cable news show producer whose mother (played by Andrea Martin) becomes an intern at the station and starts to meddle in her daily work life.
Meanwhile John Michael Higgins is the show's veteran news anchor and Nicole Richie is his hip social media millennial co-host who frequency butt heads and viewpoints.
This series launch billboard was spotted along Sunset Boulevard at Laurel Canyon Boulevard on March 23, 2017.
Fans of Briga Heelan can also check her out in this billboard for Ground Floor, followers of Nicole Richie can enjoy this Candidly Nicole billboard and these Fashion Star billboards, and you can even take a look at John Michael Higgins in these Happily Divorced billboards.
Only time will tell whether this newsroom spoof will make headlines by being the funniest new show on the air.

The Handmaid's Tale TV remake billboards...
"We will bear no more".
With those words Hulu's TV remake of The Handmaid's Tale is probably one of the most eerily timely series to tap into the mood of the country (and world), especially women, at this moment in time.

Based on Margaret Atwood's 1985 novel of the same name, that was also adapted as a movie in 1990, the story takes place in the dystopian near-future ruled by a totalitarian and Christian-fundamentalist regime.
The government of Gilead rules the former United States amidst a Civil War and subjugates its female citizens, not allowing them to work, control money or even read.
Environmental pollution has led to widespread infertility and young fertile women, called Handmaids, are assigned to the homes of the powerful and elite, forced to have sex with the men in order to become pregnant and continue the privileged family bloodline.
Elisabeth Moss plays 'Offred', a Handmaid assigned to an elite Commander (played by Jospeh Fiennes) and his wife, who can remember a time before when she had her own name (her current one is derived from her master 'Fred'), her own daughter and life.
Even though she faces the strictest scrutiny of her every move, maybe now is the time to object to her treatment, resist, rebel, because sometimes you just can't take it anymore.
These blurry 'Object' teaser billboards for the TV remake were spied high above Beverly Boulevard, along West Hollywood's Sunset Strip and above Pico Boulevard from April 4 to April 12, 2017.
The use of the word 'Object' has a clever double meaning, it's how the Handmaids are regarded as mere property, but also hints at these women opposing and protesting their treatment.
Meanwhile the follow-up 'We will bear no more' billboards were spied along La Cienega Boulevard and above Beverly Boulevard on April 21, 2017.
Fans of Elisabeth Moss can also enjoy all these Mad Men TV series billboards, and we know how the worm turned in that period drama.

This new Hulu series also features the talents of Orange is the New Black's Samira Wiley, The Leftovers Ann Dowd, Yvonne Strahovski, Max Minghella, Alexis Bledel and more besides, so it should make for dramatic viewing on the streaming service.
Let's hope in real life things never get this bad for women in the land of liberty and the free, in fact, it's up to us to make sure it never does. Object. Resist.

UPDATED: From the looks of reviews Hulu may have a hit on its hand with The Handmaid's Tale.

Let's see if this Emmy consideration billboard snapped along Venice Boulevard on May 22, 2017, can help garner some accolades for the show and its stars.

UPDATED: Here's another Emmy consideration ad creative, this one also featuring Samira Wiley, spied above Hollywood's Cahuenga Boulevard on May 27, 2017.

And another different Emmy FYC billboard spotted along West Hollywood's Sunset Strip on June 9, 2017.

Plus this additional ad creative was snapped further east along Sunset Boulevard on June 12, 2017.

And here's another billboard promoting Elisabeth Moss for her harrowing and intense portrayal as a handmaid, snapped along La Cienega Boulevard on June 28, 2017. Let's make sure a world like this never comes to pass #Resist.

UPDATED: You can tell Hulu really want some acknowledgement for their chilling adaptation of The Handmaid's Tale with all these Emmy billboards, including this ad creative spotted high above Beverly Boulevard on July 8, 2017.

UPDATED: The Handmaid's Tale of rape, forced servitude, misogyny and totalitarianism obviously resonated with Emmy voters as the show's debut season garnered thirteen nominations, including for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series (for Elisabeth Moss), Outstanding Supporting Actress (for Ann Dowd and Samira Wiley) and Outstanding Guest Actress (for Alexis Bledel).
Here are two different billboards to support these Emmy nominations photographed along Sunset Boulevard on August 2, 2017.
After everything these women endured making this incredible series they deserve more than a few awards.
Plus here's another billboard example spied along Santa Monica Boulevard in West L.A. on August 5, 2017.
UPDATED: After winning eight Emmys, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actress, The Handmaid's Tale is setting its sights on the Golden Globes and other industry awards on the horizon with consideration billboards like this snapped along Sunset Boulevard on November 15, 2017.
Plus this other awards FYC example further west along the Sunset Strip.
