Roland Emmerich has made a living out of blowing up the world's greatest landmarks, but even with films like The Day After Tomorrow, 2012 and White House Down, he's never been able to recapture the box office blockbuster magic of his 1996 sci-fi movie.

Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman and Brent Spiner return to face the attacking aliens and are joined by the young faces of Liam Hemsworth and Jessie T. Usher to battle the bad guys.

In a post-9/11 world that has faced terrorist destruction on a massive scale, witnessed real-life catastrophic tsunami events and has seen cinema special effects improve by leaps and bounds over the last twenty years, it remains to be seen if this Independence Day sequel bring anything new to the big screen.
However, they say timing is everything and maybe an intergalactic popcorn blockbuster is just what the world needs after all the recent global horrors and atrocities. At least if we're all fighting aliens we're not fighting each other, right?
These billboards for the timely movie sequel were photographed in the skies of L.A. on June 2, 2016, along Olympic Boulevard, Bundy Drive, the Sunset Strip and Pico Boulevard.
