Ellen Barkin stars as the matriarch of a Southern Californian criminal family, 'Janine "Smurf" Cody' (a part made famous by Jacki Weaver who was nominated for an Oscar), and follows a 17-year-old teenager (Finn Cole) who goes to live with his grandmother and relatives after his drug addict mother dies of an overdose.
Southern California and L.A. in particular is filled with palm trees, so there's something very powerful and evocative about seeing one on fire (especially in this time of severe drought conditions), which makes these billboards stand out even more.
The giant-sized ad creative was photographed on the side of the West Hollywood's Andaz Hotel along Sunset Boulevard, whilst the standard landscape billboard version was snapped further east along the Sunset Strip on May 26, 2016.
For more movie-to-TV adaptations, be sure to also check out these billboards for The Girlfriend Experience, these Minority Report billboards, these Limitless billboards, these Scream TV billboards and these Parenthood billboard examples.
Will you be taking a walk on the wild side with this new crime family drama?

UPDATED: It looks like TNT wants to replicate the awards success of the original movie as Animal Kingdom is campaigning in the skies of L.A. with this 'For your consideration in all categories' billboard.
This adapted season one key art was spied above the busy Sunset Strip on November 3, 2016.
