This flagship biennial telethon was started by the Comic Relief charity in the U.K., which was founded in 1985 in response to the Ethiopian famine in Africa by Love Actually's Richard Curtis and British comedian Lenny Henry.
In its 30 year history the Comic Relief Red Nose Day and sister project Sport Relief, has raised over £1 billion to combat poverty and injustice around the world.
Now it's the turn of the U.S. to have some fun, raise money and change lives with the help of NBC to tackle child poverty in American and overseas.
The inaugural live three-hour event packed with comedy, music and celebrities takes place on May 21, 2015 and this red nose adorned Statue of Liberty billboard is the perfect way to raise awareness for the cause-related TV event.
