When Daily Billboard thinks of home, the first thing that comes to mind isn't necessarily a purple creature with a cat on its head.
But in DreamWorks Animation's new movie Home, Jim Parsons voices the lovable purple misfit 'Oh' from another planet.
This alien on the run from his own people befriends a human girl named 'Tip' (voiced by Rihanna) on a quest of her own, and together on their adventures with her cat, 'Pig', they discover the true meaning of the word 'Home'.
This computer-animated buddy feature film where worlds collide is adapted from Adam Rex's 2007 children's book, 'The True Meaning of Smekday'.
These outdoor ads don't necessarily give you an idea of what the film's about, but the funny thing is the title 'Home' always evokes Stephen Spielberg's classic 1982 movie E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and his 'Phone home' catchphrase for Daily Billboard, so you can at least assume that aliens are involved.
These billboards for the animated movie were captured from February 28 to March 8, 2015, and can be spied all around the busy streets of L.A. at the moment from San Vicente Boulevard to Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard to the Sunset Strip, Westwood Boulevard to Olympic Boulevard, and more besides.
After a string of underperforming movies like The Croods and The Penguins of Madagascar, plus just missing out on an Oscar for How to Train Your Dragon 2, DreamWorks Animation could really do with a box office hit.
If you're an animation fan, be sure to also enjoy these other animated movie and TV cartoon billboards from around L.A. in recent years.
Only time will tell whether families and cat lovers will think Home is out of this world, or whether they'd rather stay in on their own sofas and watch Frozen for the gazillionth time.
