Bosch series premiere TV billboards...

Since their launch onto the original programming streaming scene, Amazon Prime has enjoyed success with its 20-minute format comedies like the Golden Globe-winning transgender dramedy, Transparent, and political sitcom, Alpha House, but now it's time for them to produce their first scripted one-hour drama series, Bosch.

As procedural crime dramas are the staple of many a network and cable channel, it's a no-brainer that Amazon Studios would adapt Michael Connelly's best-selling novels and breathe life into Detective 'Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch', to capitalise on his established loyal fan base and mine the wealth of compelling stories in existence.

Titus Welliver plays the titular Bosch, a familiar face having appeared in the likes of TV's Deadwood, Sons of Anarchy and The Good Wife to name but a few, and the series takes place in an authentic L.A. setting, because after all, in the books the City of Angels is almost like a character itself and 'every murder tells the tale of a city'.

The first season of ten episodes apparently contains elements from the novels City of Bones, The Concrete Blonde and Echo Park, plus characters and plot twists have been tweaked to suit the TV translation, including Bosch now being a Gulf War vet, rather than having served in Vietnam.

These bold series premiere billboards for Bosch were snapped along West Hollywood's Sunset Strip and over La Cienega Boulevard on February 3, 2015.

Not every book adaptation fares well, for every Jack Ryan there's a Jack Reacher and worse besides.

Let's hope Harry Bosch can step from the printed page to the small screen successfully, and at least he has a full season for you to binge-watch to get to know him.
