At a party surrounded by friends and family, one adult (Zachary Quinto) loses his temper and disciplines an unruly child with a slap. Stunned and outraged, the child's parents (played by Melissa George and Thomas Sadoski) threaten legal action, but what the guests and hosts don't realize is that this action sets in motion a series of events that will uncover hidden secrets amongst this group of friends, lovers and family.
The Slap is an eight episode mini-series based on an Australian drama of the same name, which is itself adapted from the 2008 novel by Christos Tsiolkas. Rounding out NBC's all-star cast of this family drama are Peter Sarsgaard, Thandie Newton, Uma Thurman and Brian Cox.
These series premiere billboards for the mini-series remake were spotted along Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue on January 21, 2015.
TV shows never seem to make the translation from their home territory as successfully as studios hope. You just have to look at Fox's poorly performing recent remake of the acclaimed British series Broadchurch as Gracepoint, the remake of the Scandinavian crime drama The Bridge on FX (which only lasted two seasons) and also Fox's remake of another Australian show, Rake, which flopped at the start of last year.
Let's hope The Slap doesn't turn out to be a slap in the face for NBC.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver season two TV billboards...
In this world of backstabbing corrupt politics, economic crises, climate change repercussions, terrorist attacks and life-threatening viruses, isn't it nice when people don't take themselves too seriously.
Case in point, the sophomore season promo billboards for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, which have just the right amount of wit and irreverence to put a smile on even the most jaded cynic.
The massive headline proclaims that 'For season two he's changing it all up' and then in smaller type the punchline is, 'Actually, it's basically the same. Ignore the pony'.
Not only is it hilarious, but why fix something which isn't broken.
The inclusion of the pony just helps to highlight John Oliver's light-hearted, always insightful and highly satirical approach to the past week in the spheres of news, politics and world current affairs.
Now that's how you make a normal looking, spectacle-wearing guy in a suit and tie, who talks about politics for a living, more interesting (maybe a prop is something that Bill Maher should think about to mix up the advertising for his show, now in its thirteenth season).
The fun standard landscape billboards were first spied along Sunset Boulevard on January 14, whilst the super-sized pony ad creative was snapped westbound along the Sunset Strip on January 23, 2015.
If you're a fan of the show, be sure to also enjoy these season one billboards for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver from last April, which had the more subtle device of the comedian host having two pairs of glasses.
Happy fun day Friday, may the laughs be with you this weekend.

UPDATED: Here's the season two creative updated without the pony for the show's Emmy consideration campaign, snapped along La Cienega Boulevard on May 19, 2015.

Jupiter Ascending movie billboards...
Daily Billboard loves when someone attempts to bring a whole new slice of sci-fi to the big screen, but our fear with Jupiter Ascending is that if it's not a science fiction spectacular, the movie may be a real hot mess.
The Wachowski Brothers are famous for revolutionising the world of cinema with the The Matrix movie, but they also brought us two the disappointing sequels, plus box office flops like the technicolour travesty, Speed Racer, and the under appreciated Cloud Atlas.
Let's hope this new outer space epic starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis can return the filmmaking duo to winning form (especially as there's also the added pressure of the new highly-anticpated Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie on the horizon).
In this galactic space opera spectacular, Mila Kunis plays 'Jupiter Jones', a down-on-her-luck cleaning lady who discovers she has a greater destiny when Channing Tatum's genetically-engineered hunter 'Caine' arrives on Earth to find her. He isn't alone, and she soon discovers her unique genetic signature makes her heir to one of the most powerful alien dynasties in the cosmos. Imagine that.
With galaxy-spanning empires, genetics and alien bounty hunters, Jupiter Ascending sounds like it has all the essential ingredients to be a great science-fiction action movie, but as it was originally planned for a summer release, you have to wonder if it was postponed for a reason whilst they fixed any problems with the film.
These interplanetary billboards for the movie were spied around L.A. from January 9 to January 17, 2015, from The Grove shopping centre to Sunset Boulevard, Fairfax Avenue, Cahuenga Boulevard and Beverly Boulevard.
If you're a fan of the handsome Channing Tatum, be sure to also check out these White House Down movie billboards and 22 Jump Street movie billboards.
Plus if you're admirer of the beautiful Mila Kunis, enjoy these Friends with Benefits film billboards and these Oz the Great and Powerful movie billboards.
Who knows, maybe this film will enjoy the Guardians of the Galaxy effect whereby all things cosmic are cool again, and it will enjoy stellar reviews and an out-of-this-world box office.
Only time will tell if Jupiter will ascend, or whether it will crash and burn.

The Grammys 2015 billboards...
"Look into my eyes, you will watch The Grammys, you will watch The Grammys".
This year the 57th Grammy Awards outdoor ad campaign celebrates 'The Grammy Effect', with these hypnotic geometric designs enticing you to watch the live broadcast on February 8, 2015.
Lorde, Pharrell and Beyoncé (they don't need a surname to clarify who they are) all radiate star power in these eye-catching ad creatives, just as much as they did performing on stage at previous Grammy Awards ceremonies, or making an entrance on the red carpet in their over-sized hat.
These vibrant Grammy billboards were spotted along Sunset Boulevard, Melrose Avenue and Highland Avenue from January 15 to January 21, whilst the 57th Grammy nominees album billboard was snapped along the infamous Sunset Strip on January 24, 2015.
The music industry awards show outdoor advertising is always inventive, but these new creatives are probably Daily Billboard's favourite ad campaign to date, but be sure to compare them to previous Grammy Awards billboards from years past and see what you think.
If you're a fan of the singing style-setter Pharrell Williams, be sure to also enjoy these billboards for The Voice's seventh season.
If Queen Bey rocks your world, make sure you check out all these billboards featuring Beyoncé, everything from other awards shows to concert tour promos, behind-the-scenes documentary films and being the face of Pepsi.
Which music superstars and recording artists will walk away with a Grammy this year at The Staples Center in Downtown L.A.? You will tune in to find out.

UPDATED: Daily Billboard spied another of 'The Grammy Effect' ad creatives, this one featuring French electro-pop duo Daft Punk, along La Cienega Boulevard on February 4, 2015.
Across the highly trafficked road was a companion billboard in better lighting featuring New Zealand singer, Lorde.
Meanwhile along the Sunset Strip on February 2, 2015, Gucci Timepieces were celebrating five years of sponsorship partnership with The Grammy Awards with this eye-catching golden Grammy billboard.

Fifty Shades of Grey film billboards dominating the L.A. skyline...
This Valentine's Day the cinematic adaptation of E. L. James' erotic romance novel, Fifty Shades of Grey, may be making the big screen a little kinkier, but the outdoor advertising campaign for the S&M flavored flick is remarkably restrained and tasteful.
Apparently advance tickets sales of this highly-anticapted movie are the highest ever for an R-Rated movie, so it looks like 'Mr. Grey' is going to get a keen audience who like to watch.
Keeping the majority of handsome Jamie Dornan's face out of the imagery adds to the mystery of his wealthy businessman character, whilst the tie wrapped around his fist hints at the bondage elements of story.
Fifty Shades of Grey doesn't necessarily strike Daily Billboard as the best first date movie, but on the other hand, maybe it will be the perfect ice-breaker for couples in love this Valentine's Day.
Giant billboards for the saucy movie have taken over the skies of L.A. this month with super-sized outdoor ads heating things up along Wilshire Boulevard, Highland Avenue and Sunset Boulevard.

The smaller and standard landscape billboards were also spied along Melrose Avenue from January 21 to January 24, 2015. Keeping the ad creative designs to black and white and 'shades of grey', with just a dash of red, makes them even more thematic and striking.
If you're an admirer of the actor that plays the enigmatic Mr. Grey, be sure to also enjoy these steamy Calvin Klein billboards featuring Jamie Dornan from his time as a male fashion model (so he's no stranger to stripping off in front of the camera).

Make sure you clear your calendar and you're not too tied up to enjoy some titillation on the cinema screen this February.

Dakota Johnson plays the naive and curious literature student 'Anastasia Steele', who is drawn to the enigmatic 'Christian Grey' when she goes to interview him and soon begins to discover his secrets and explore her own sexual desires along the way.

Giant Disney Cinderella movie billboard...
You can't help but be charmed by Disney's new live-action Cinderella movie, it's unapologetically fairytale fantasy in all its Disney Princess glory.
There's no major dark twists or reinventions, like Disney's recent adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's musical Into the Woods or with Angelina Jolie in Maleficent, this is pure sweeping romance, glass slippers and all, from director and renowned thespian Kenneth Branagh.
Downton Abbey's Lily James play the young, beautiful 'Ella' in this rags-to-riches story largely based on Walt Disney's 1950 beloved animated classic, with Cate Blanchett playing her wicked Stepmother and Sophie McShera and Holliday Grainger cast as her cruel Stepsisters.
Helena Bonham Carter brings her eccentric talents as Cinderella's Fairy Godmother and Game of Thrones Richard Madden is the Prince Charming who captures her heart.
This giant-sized magical billboard for Cinderella was snapped brightening up L.A.'s Sunset Plaza on January 23, 2015.
Prepare for a dazzling happily-ever-after spectacle if Cinderella's gorgeous, voluminous ball gown is anything to go by.

UPDATED: Here's another smaller billboard for the live-action Cinderella, spied high over Vine Street in Hollywood on February 9, 2015.
Keen observers will see that this dreamy version features one of those infamous glass slippers from the fairytale.

UPDATED: This Cinderella key art is really a great example of how one dreamy visual can be used across multiple sizes and formats and have consistently great impact.
Daily Billboard especially likes this special extension billboard for the Disney movie, snapped along Santa Monica Boulevard in Westwood on February 23, 2015 (although it's a shame that it's back to back with another extension billboard, which spoils the full effect).

If you're a fan of the classic fairytale, be sure to also check out these original Cinderella movie costumes worn by Lily James and Richard Madden on display.
Plus here's another special extension billboard for Cinderella spotted making an impression high over Wilshire Boulevard on February 24, 2015.
