'John Constantine' was first introduced by comic writing legend Alan Moore in 1985's Swamp Thing and later the cynical magician and occult detective became the star of his own Vertigo Comics title, Hellblazer.
In 2005 Keanu Reeves brought the chain-smoking exorcist, who can see earthbound half-angels and half-demons, to the big screen.
This time around Welsh actor Matt Ryan has been cast as the seasoned demon hunter and master of the dark arts, whose soul has already been damed to Hell.
In this new episodic series the disillusioned sceptic is forced from the sidelines back into the fight against the forces of evil, using his occult skills to battle the supernatural terrors that torment our world, and learning there may be hope for his soul after all.
These Constantine series premiere billboards were first spied along Venice Boulevard and Westwood Boulevard on September 30, in two locations the next day along Melrose Avenue and later along Ventura Boulevard on October 9, 2014.
Only time will tell whether Constantine can take on the likes of 'The Winchester Boys' in Supernatural and offer something different than the fourth season of fairytale and fable show it's partnered with on Friday nights, Grimm.
Let's also see whether NBC will be brave enough to acknowledge the character's bisexual nature, or whether that's one demon they'd rather stayed in the closet.
