The Giver movie billboards...

The Giver, the latest young adult novel adaptation to hit the big screen, may be sporting two big stars in its cast, but for some reason the studio could only spring for a campaign of small size billboards (maybe they know something we don't).

Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep star in the sci-fi movie set in a seemingly utopian, albeit colourless, society, where conformity and contentment reign and strife and sickness are a thing of the past by converting the population to 'sameness'.

Each member of society has a specific purpose and 16-year-old 'Jonas' (Brenton Thwaites) is chosen to be the 'Receiver of Memory' from The Giver (Jeff Bridges). He soon discovers the truth of the world he lives in, which is devoid of emotional depth and not so perfect as it at first seems, in fact more of a dystopian future.

These movie billboards for The Giver were snapped along Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks on August 1 and along Westwood Boulevard on August 4, 2014.

Let's hope this adaptation of Lois Lowry's 1993 best-seller doesn't exhibit the 'sameness' of other young adult novels, such as seen in these Vampire AcademyBeautiful Creatures and The Mortal Instruments film flops, and will be more of a success like the Harry Potter, The Hunger Games and The Twilight Saga film franchises.
