Nearly naked 138 Water billboards...

Sex sells. It's the oldest trick in the book.

You want to be noticed? Put a naked woman on your ad with something strategically positioned to hide her naughty bits.

Who would ever have guessed these billboard ads were for a water brand, and a fashion water brand at that, coming in different colours for whatever style or mood you're in.

There's always been an environmentally unfriendly issue with bottled water, the impact of all that plastic, plus the fact you pay a premium for what you can essentially get from a tap, but 138 Water seems to be even more of a waste of space that the other bottled waters.

Not only does their product have nothing new to offer, but their whole marketing campaign is to get a bunch of vacuous busty models to be photographed with their water.

Do people really have the time to colour co-ordinate their water bottle with what clothes they are wearing? These ads seems to be targeting men, so will they be buying their favorite colour to match their outfit each day? Doubtful.

These rather desperate 138 Water billboards, with a nearly naked Carmen Ortega, were spied along Sunset Boulevard, above some strip clubs no less, on November 1, 2013.

If you want to see how other brands get you to pay for their bottled water, be sure to check out these other bottled water ad campaigns, using celebrities and all kinds of gimmicks to get you to hand over your cash.

UPDATED: Here are two more ad creatives for the 138 Water campaign, continuing the trend of using hot barely clothed female models to attract attention.

Meanwhile the second creative features actress and model Masha Lund and at least this billboard features some water. This billboard which asks that all-important question, 'What's your color?', was spotted along Sunset Boulevard the same day.

UPDATED: In 2014 the bottled water brand continues its marketing strategy of using scantily-clad swimwear models, and this new billboard featuring Lexie Marlow was spotted along Sunset Boulevard on May 13, 2014.

And here's another beach beauty for 138 Water, this time Abigail Ratchford in black and white, snapped along the Sunset Strip on August 13, 2014.

UPDATED: These days there's absolutely no pretense that these 138 Water billboards are anything but titillation, as this new ad creative snapped along Sunset Boulevard on November 29, 2014, featuring a bikini-clad Elena Belle proves.

And here's another provocative billboard featuring DJ Colleen Shannon, spotted at the same Sunset Boulevard and La Brea Avenue location on December 6, 2014. At least in this one the model is holding a bottle of water.

Plus further proof that this campaign has nothing at all to do with water, courtesy of the latest ad featuring a Mary Grace Swim model, spied along the Sunset Strip on December 31, 2014.

UPDATED: 138 Water is certainly keeping things 'fresh' and resorting to nudity to garner attention with this latest Hollywood-themed billboard featuring Natalia Barulich, snapped along Sunset Boulevard on March 4, 2015.
