Colourful Apple iPhone 5c billboards...

Giant pink iPhone 5c billboard Sunset Strip
In all this time and all the many ad creatives, who knew what was missing from Apple's billboards was a big burst of colour.
The colour on colour combination shouldn't work, but because it's such a departure from their usual white background design, these ads for the new iPhone 5c stand out even more.
Apple iPhone 5c pink billboard
Apple's new plastic iPhone 5c comes in four bold colours, pink, blue, green, yellow and glossy white (for now) and not only is it more colourful for all you fashionistas out there, it's also cheaper to make and retails for less than the iPhone 5 and 5s.
Blue iPhone 5c billboard
This least expensive iPhone ever was primarily created to appeal to territories like China and other countries where people don't have as much disposable income to spend on gadgets like in the U.S. and the richer parts of Europe (but for us living in America we get to benefit too).

It's a clever strategy and these vibrant new ad creatives certainly pop and do the job of grabbing your attention.
Green iPhone 5c billboard
Apple hasn't advertised its iPhone products using out-of-home billboards in quite some time, preferring to focus more on supporting new generations of its iPod and launching its iPad tablet in recent years, so that's another reason these billboards make such an impact.

Daily Billboard first spied the bright blue iPhone 5c billboard along Santa Monica Boulevard on September 22, whilst the green and pink landscape versions followed along Melrose Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard the next day.

The larger pink portrait billboard which shows the smartphone's back casing and not from a side on perspective, was snapped along the busy commuter zone of Sunset Boulevard on September 26, 2013.

If you're a fan of technology brand's stylish and sophisticated products, be sure to check out these previous Apple ad campaigns from around the streets of L.A.

And if anyone's wondering (wink wink), Daily Billboard's favourite colour is blue.
Yellow iPhone 5c billboard
UPDATED: If your favourite colour is yellow, then today is your lucky day, as Daily Billboard spied this yellow creative for the iPhone 5c along Fairfax Avenue on October 5, 2013, completing Apple's vibrant new colour smartphone offering (unless there's also a white version of this creative).

UPDATED: Now that it's nearing the end of November it's time for all the different cooloured iPhone 5c billboards to do a switcheroo and change billboard locations to keep things fresh in the skies of L.A.

Here's the new giant-sized blue ad creative snapped in Apple's flagship Sunset Boulevard billboard location beside the Cheateau Marmont Hotel on a beautiful November 24, 2103. It's pretty amazing to think that the power and popularity of the Apple brand means they don't need any words to convey their message.

Giant Eastbound & Down season 4 billboard
Danny McBride is back as 'Kenny Powers' and blinged up for a fourth season of Eastbound & Down.

But wait, didn't the season three finale suggest that the former major league ballplayer was leaving baseball behind to be with his family.

After a surprise renewal Kenny is back for a final season (for real this time) and being married and living in the suburbs with a normal job is not for him, so to escape his miserable existence, he embarks on another quest for fame and fortune.

And by the looks of these season four billboards there's plenty of money, fast cars and beautiful women to be had.

The giant-sized ad creative for Eastbound & Down was spied towering over L.A.'s Sunset Strip, whilst the standard landscape billboards were snapped along Melrose Avenue and Sunset Boulevard on September 12, 2013.

If you're a fan of the show, be sure to check out these Eastbound & Down season three billboards from February 2012, plus also take a look at Danny McBride in these movie billboards for This is the End from earlier this year.

Never forget 'You don't retire from being awesome'. Wise words indeed.

And that's it for our first ever TV FORTNIGHT. Stay tuned for even more new television show ad creatives to come, but expect more of the usual eclectic mix of billboards in the coming week.

TV WEEK: We Are Men series premiere billboards...

We Are Men series premiere billboard
If Daily Billboard had to choose one new show most likely to fail this fall season, it would have to be We Are Men, as this show is archaically titled and feels like a bit of a dated concept, probably riddled with chauvinistic stereotypes.
We Are Men CBS sitcom billboard
When Carter (Chris Smith) is jilted at the alter he moves into a short-term apartment complex and gets dating and life advice from his three divorced and more experienced 'band of brothers' neighbours, including Monk's Tony Shalhoub, Sliders Jerry O'Connell and House's Kal Penn.
We Are Men billboard
These series premiere billboards which seem to evoke the Grown Ups movie franchise, i.e. men trying to recapture their youth, were snapped along Vine Street at Santa Monica Boulevard on September 3, plus along Pico Boulevard at La Cienega Boulevard on September 7, 2013.

What do you think, will We Are Men rise to the top, or sink to the bottom of that swimming pool without a trace?

TV WEEK: Ironside remake series premiere billboards...

Ironside 2013 remake series premiere billboard
Oh no they didn't, oh yes they did. NBC have dug into their TV vaults and decided to bring back Ironside to television for a new generation.

The crime drama first starred Raymond Burr as the tough paraplegic Detective 'Robert T. Ironside' for eight seasons from 1967 to 1975, and now there's a new detective in the wheelchair in the form of Blair Underwood.

Obviously hoping to tick all the diversity boxes for their gritty new cop drama, the 2013 reboot is not only bringing back a show with a lead who's disabled, but also a handsome black actor, who you may remember played 'President Elias Martinez' in NBC's failed sci-fi drama series, The Event.

Another departure from the original series is that the new Ironside is set in New York City rather than San Francisco (and actually filmed in Los Angeles), which is a shame as with so many procedural cop shows based in NYC it would have been nice to have a show set in the City by the Bay as a point of difference.

The Ironside series premiere billboard was first spotted along Sunset Boulevard on August 21 (then mysteriously taken down the next day), then next spied along Pico Boulevard on August 31, 2013.

Let's wait and see whether his new crack team of specialists, his new city and his new look will be as popular as the original.

TV WEEK: Hello Ladies series premiere billboards...

Giant Hello Ladies series premiere billboard
Hello Ladies (and gents), now it's time for the other half of the comic genius behind the British version of The Office and Extras to shine, as Stephen Merchant steps out from behind the shadows (and ego) of Ricky Gervais.

In this new HBO comedy the gawky Englishman, in his first starring role, comes to the looks conscious and fame obsessed L.A. to find the girl of his dreams, he's single and he's desperate to mingle.

These fun ad creatives perfectly help convey what it must be like for a socially awkward outsider trying to find romance in the city of beautiful young things who all want to make it (and make out) in Hollywoodland.

The standard landscape series premiere billboards for Hello Ladies first starting appearing along Sunset Boulevard around September 4, whilst the giant-sized version on the side of the Andaz Hotel along the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood was snapped on September 12, 2013.

Only time will tell if Stephen Merchant's first solo on screen adventure will be a success, or whether he should stick to collaborating behind-the-scenes with Ricky Gervais.

As a continued show of support for the freshman comedy series, Hello Ladies trades places with the billboard for Eastbound & Down's fourth season and switches from the side of the Andaz Hotel to another giant ad site towering over the Sunset Strip further west on October 4, 2013.

TV WEEK: Witches of East End series premiere billboards...

Witches of East End billboard
Witches have certainly been in vouge this year, from the big screen Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, to the iconic three witches in Oz The Great and Powerful, plus the search for the next Twilight mega-franchise with films like Beautiful Creatures.

On the small screen in recent years we've seen shows like Once Upon a Time and Grimm embrace the realms of fairytale, folklore and magic, plus FX's horror anthology American Horror Story is back for a third season, with the witch-themed Coven.

There's no surprise then that Lifetime wants to get in on the supernatural action with its own new series, Witches of East End.

Inspired by Melissa de la Cruz's best-selling book of the same name, Witches of East End follows the lives of the mysterious Beauchamp family in Long Island's seaside town of North Hampton.

Julia Ormond plays 'Joanna', the mother of two grown daughters, wild-child bartender 'Freya' (played by Jenna Dewan Tatum) and shy librarian 'Ingrid' (played by Rachel Boston).

When their family is threatened, she must reveal to her daughters that they possess untapped incredible powers and are in fact immortal witches.

With a cast of bright young things that are easy on the eye and with perfect timing with Halloween fast approaching, it looks like this new witching hour will be an interesting addition to the fall television lineup (although surely not as bloody and shocking as American Horror Story: Coven).

The Witches of East End was teased with this green eye 'The witching hour is coming' ad creative from the end of August along Sunset Plaza and the bottom of Barham Boulevard, whilst the 'Careful what you witch for' and series premiere cast billboards were spied along Sunset Boulevard around September 16, 2013.

The new show certainly looks like it'll be heating up things this season on Lifetime, but will it be able to cast its spell over a large enough audience. If only Daily Billboard had a crystal ball to divine its future.

UPDATED: The witching hour continues with this ad creative featuring Julia Ormond in the same style as the earlier Jenna Dewan Tatum version, spied along San Vicente Boulevard at Wilshire Boulevard on October 18, 2013.
