Now here's a clever billboard for HBO Films new TV movie, Clear History, that's all around L.A. at the moment in a big way, and the funniest thing is that bearded guy in the ad is in fact an almost unrecognisable Larry David from Curb Your Enthusiasm.
This really is a story of wealth, fame, power and this guy, as following an argument with his boss (played by Mad Men's Jon Hamm and seen on the mock Time magazine cover) hipster marketing exec 'Nathan Flomm' sells his shares in a start-up electric car company (the 'Howard' car, as seen on the back cover ad of the magazine) only to discover the concept is a billion dollar idea.
Publicly humiliated and his life destroyed, he moves away to small island off the coast of Massachusetts, changes his name and spends the next decade creating a new life for himself as 'Rolly Davore'.
Ten years later he runs into his successful old boss, who doesn't recognise him now without his shaggy hair and beard, and thinks it's time for some payback.
In addition to Larry David and Jon Hamm, the comedy sports an all-star cast including the likes of Kate Hudson, Michael Keaton, Danny McBride, Eva Mendes, Bill Hader, Amy Ryan, J.B. Smoove and Philip Baker Hall.
Once you know the plot of the movie this ad creative makes perfect sense and even if you don't it's still an intriguing visual.
HBO Films has certainly given the movie some heavy-weight support with giant-sized billboards on the sides of West Hollywood's Andaz Hotel and the super-tall 9000 Sunset Building, snapped on July 27, 2013.
In additional there's the usual landscape billboards (first spied on July 13, 2013), plus another vertical ad on the side of Beverly Hills SLS Hotel along La Cienega Boulevard.
If you're a fan of Larry David, be sure to check out these cool Curb Your Enthusiasm season eight billboards, plus if you're a Jon Hamm admirer, be sure to take a look at all these Mad Men billboards.
