Originally planned for release last year, it appears reshoots were needed to accommodate more of Channing Tatum's 'Duke' (originally killed off early in the film in the first cut), who had a pretty spectacular year at the box office in 2012 with hits like the 21 Jump Street remake, Magic Mike and The Vow. Plus it also allowed time to convert the movie to 3D.
This teaser billboard was snapped along Sunset Boulevard on February 4, 2013, no doubt with plans for more billboards to follow showcasing the new cast, which include action-hero staples Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson.
At the end of the first film, audiences were left with the knowledge that Cobra's operative 'Zartan' had infiltrated the White House and impersonated the American President (played by Jonathan Pryce), now it looks like it's time for some G.I. Joe payback.

Plus an additional squarer format spotted along Santa Monica Boulevard in West L.A. on February 25, 2013. Those orange flames in the foreground certainly do make these ads pop against that blue Californian sky.

UPDATED: No offense to Dwayne Johnson, but finally some different creatives for the G.I. Joe sequel have appeared in the skies of Hollywood.
Just as with Rise of the Guardians in recent months, the G.I. Joe squad have taken over all four sides of Sunset Vine Tower, making for an eye-catching spectacle from a distance in every direction.
These super tall billboards featuring Ray Park as 'Snake Eyes', Channing Tatum as 'Duke', Dwayne Johnson as 'Roadblock' and Bruce Willis as the original 'Joe' was spied on March 9, 2013.

UPDATED: Just when Daily Billboard thought we'd seen all the super-sized billboards around L.A. for G.I. Joe 2, along comes this trio of fantastic action figures spied in Downtown Los Angeles on March 16, 2013.
Dwayne Johnson's 'Roadblock' (who seems to be the central marketing message for this film) is flanked on the left by Snake Eyes and the villainous Cobra agent 'Storm Shadow' on his right, making for a truly spectacular sight on the side of Hotel Figueroa.
