Lindsay Lohan is the perfect example, as she stars as 'Elizabeth Taylor' in the new Lifetime TV movie about the legendary Hollywood actress.
Will this retelling of Liz Taylor and Richard Burton's notorious fiery love affair be the former Disney child star's big comeback?
There are certainly similarities between the two actresses as the landscape billboard creative suggests with its copy.
She's not the only one looking to cash in on famous people from the past either, look for more portrayals in the months to come, like Sienna Miller as Alfred Hitchcock's muse 'Tippi Hedren', Jane Fonda as former first lady 'Nancy Reagan', Daniel Day-Lewis as 'President Abraham Lincoln' and Naomi Watts playing 'Princess Diana'.
This super-sized billboard for Liz & Dick was photographed towering over L.A.'s Sunset Strip on October 3, whilst the standard landscape ad was snapped along Sunset Plaza on September 22, 2012.

If you're fan of the iconic Cleopatra and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof movie starlet, be sure to also check out this Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Healthcare Foundation tribute billboard for her wonderful work as an ambassador and activist for the charity.

Plus stick with us in the days to come for another exciting TV WEEK here at Daily Billboard.
UPDATED: Lifetime certainly seems to be throwing money at promoting Liz & Dick as Daily Billboard has spied even more giant-sized and extra-large billboards around the streets of L.A. of late.
In addition to a super-sized ad on the side of Hollywood's Metropolitan Hotel along Sunset Boulevard there were also large vertical billboards at Madame Tussauds along Hollywood Boulevard and at Sunset & Vine on November 10, 2012.
Let's hope Lindsay Lohan can keep it together for her big comeback, although canceling a high-profile 20/20 interview with Barbara Walters is probably not the best thing to do just before Liz & Dick is due to air.

UPDATED: Special thanks to TSM for commenting and bringing this different ad creative for Liz & Dick to Daily Billboard's attention.
Featuring both Lindsay Lohan and Grant Bowler as their Liz & Dick namesakes, this billboard was snapped along 3rd Street at Detroit Street on November 12, 2012.
Since you seem interested, there is a brand-new "Liz & Dick" billboard with a different design (B&W photo of Lohan and Bowler, his face buried in her neck, both their names over the title). It just went up at the corner of 3rd and Detroit, right near the Trader Joe's on 3rd and La Brea.
