TV WEEK: Vegas series premiere billboards...

Even though television shows like The Playboy Club and Pan Am didn't set the world on fire, it seems that TV land is still enamored with the inherent dramatic possibilities of the 60's.

Introducing Vegas, the new CBS drama starring Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis, which seems to be a mash-up of the gangster and western genres.

Set in 1960's Las Vegas and inspired by true events, the crime series chronicles the battles between Quaid's 'Sheriff Ralph Lamb' with a Chicago mobster 'Vincent Savino' (Chiklis).

Former rancher Ralph Lamb was a real-life Sheriff of Clark County from 1961 to 1979, known as the 'Cowboy Sheriff'.

CBS certainly likes its crime dramas and obviously wants this new series to succeed as these billboards for Vegas seem to be everywhere around L.A. at the moment.
