The film is about three local teenagers who set off the investigate the mysterious lights that appeared over Phoenix, Arizona on March 13, 1997, dubbed the 'Phoenix Lights'.

Based of the real-life sightings of this strange phenomenon, the kids ventured into the desert to investigate and now on the twentieth anniversary of their disappearance, the unseen footage of their expedition and their final hours have been discovered.

The blurry face footage billboards were snapped from March 23 through April 12 along Melrose Avenue, La Brea Avenue, Highland Avenue, La Cienega Boulevard and Westwood Boulevard.

Meanwhile the 'They've been lying to you' follow-up ad creative was first photographed along La Brea Avenue on March 29, then later above La Cienega Boulevard on April 12, 2017.
