The Man in the High Castle season two TV billboards...

Man in the High Castle season 2 billboard
When Amazon Studios adapted Philip K. Dick's 1962 novel The Man in the High Castle last year, they showed us an alternate Earth where the Nazis and Axis powers had won World War II and taken over America.

Who'd have thought twelve months later and after the results of the U.S. election we'd soon have white supremacists working in the White House and foreign forces influencing the presidential election, so all of a sudden a second season of the sci-fi drama doesn't feel as far fetched (and doesn't make a Hitler saluting Statue of Liberty in New York City near Trump Tower all that questionable).

In the inaugural season we were introduced to an alternate 1960s America split between East and West Coasts, and a fragile alliance between Japanese and German leaders.

Everything changes when 'Juliana Crain' (Alexa Davalos) is drawn into the resistance when her sister gives her a strange newsreel (before she is executed in the street) which depicts an unbelievable world in which the Allies had won WWII.

Investigating this mysterious film she befriends Luke Kleintank's 'Joe Blake', a new addition to the underground who just happens to be an SS double agent, whilst her boyfriend 'Frank Frink' (Rupert Evans) is arrested when the Japanese and Nazis become suspicious of her activities, and he pays a terrible price when they discover his family's hidden Jewish heritage.

Hunting out these resistance fighters in New York is Rufus Sewell's SS Obergruppenf├╝hrer 'John Smith', surviving assassination attempts and having to question his own allegiances when his own son is shown to not be genetically pure and marked for termination.

As you can see the world of The Man in the High Castle is a complex and compelling one, and who wouldn't fight to change such a dark, fascist vision of our world.

The future does indeed belong to those who change it, so to all you dreamers out there get ready to make a stand.

Let's see if this season can capture some Emmy nomination for its 'defiant' storytelling on Amazon's Prime video streaming service.

Man in the High Castle We are provocative billboard
This 'We are provocative' Emmy nominations billboard was snapped above Pico Boulevard on July 22, 2017, and we'd say having a Nazi in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood is pretty provocative.
