The son of Pakistani immigrants is a good student, although shy and sexually inexperienced, so when he borrows his father's taxi cab to drive from Queens to Manhattan for a night of partying, he doesn't know that a chance encounter with a mysterious girl thinking she's hailing a ride would lead to a wild night of sex and drugs, and him waking up the next day in bed to find her stabbed to death beside him.
As you can see the situation seems dire and certainly seems to reflect some real-life prejudices, and although the drama sounds intriguing and compelling viewing, it's safe to say it won't fill your heart with cheer.
This ad creative is so interesting, don't you think? At first Daily Billboard thought it was a iron bridge, but on closer inspection its the view from above a city street at night. Very clever indeed.
UPDATED: This awards season The Night Of has become a bit of a critical darling with three Golden Globe and two SAG Award nominations, including acting nods for John Turturro and Riz Ahmed.
