Netflix's acclaimed original women's prison dramedy, Orange is the New Black, is back for a fourth season with some 'New blood. New rules' and some renewed pride and hope for many in the skies of L.A.
Not only are Taylor Schilling's 'Piper Chapman' and her fellow inmates welcoming new additions to Litchfield Penitentiary, but the show was also sending a love letter to the LGBTQ community in West Hollywood for Pride month and L.A.'s 2016 Pride celebrations (which sadly took place the day after the horrific massacre at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida).
Now more than ever it's important have visibility for the LGBTQ community and to have allies show their support in any way they can. So Netflix, please know that this gesture is appreciated.
The rainbow Pride flag also perfectly represents the show's diverse LGBTQ characters, as before Transparent there was Laverne Cox's transgender character, 'Sophia Burset' (actually played by an openly transgender actress), paving the way, and Piper's Lesbian love story and history with Laura Prepon's 'Alex Vause' has been central to the drama.
The season four cut-out extension billboard was snapped along Melrose Avenue, whilst the special Pride flag creative was photographed above the busy intersection of Santa Monica and La Cienega Boulevards in West Hollywood on June 16, 2016.
