Bad Words movie billboards...

Sometimes keeping it simple is the best policy, as is the case with these billboard creatives for Jason Bateman's new comedy, Bad Words.

This suggestive ad creative, which comes in all shapes and sizes, cleverly focuses on Bateman's mouth forming a very bad word, and from the shape of his mouth you can almost guess what that word is without having to spell it all out for passersby.

Not only does the Arrested Development actor star in the movie, but it's also his directorial debut.

Rather surprisingly he's decided to play against type, eschewing his usually likable, sensitive straight guy persona to play a bitter and cynical bad-boy, a 40-year-old high school dropout who wants his revenge by finding a loophole in the rules that allows his to compete and win as an adult in a National Spelling Bee.

As you can imagine this is not your typical Hollywood movie, being more of a parody of those overly sentimental adult/kid family-friendly formats, and is a slightly more sarcastic, darker and biting comedy.

The giant-sized billboards for Bad Words were photographed at the intersection of Franklin and Highland Avenues on March 15, whilst the standard landscape version was snapped along Pico Boulevard and the smaller ad along Santa Monica Boulevard on March 4, 2014.
